Help You Plan Your Next Vermont Vacation And See The Beautify Of Vermont!

Welcome to the heart of cheese country where the beautiful mountains of Okemo Valley come alive with the celebration of cheese!
With one of the highest concentrations of cheddar producers in the state and some of the oldest cheese making factories in the United States (dating back to the 1800’s), it’s no surprise that artisan cheese is abundant within the region. Okemo Valley has joined the Vermont Cheese Council’s statewide effort, and there are many ways to join in.

From September 7-15th, 2024, you’re invited to celebrate Vermont Cheese Week with a Special Cheese Stroll in Okemo Valley!

Take a Cheese Stroll – A Gourmet Adventure

The Cheese Stroll is a self-guided tour that can be enjoyed at your own pace and will be filled with fun! It’s a family-friendly week of activities and tastings that combines the beauty of Okemo Valley with the joy of cheese. This delightful walking and driving tour takes you through the picturesque landscapes of the 12 town region, with stops at various cheese producers, retailers, and restaurants all throughout the week.

Meet the Artisans Behind the Craft

The true stars of Vermont Cheese Week are the local cheese producers, whose passion and expertise are evident in every wheel and wedge. Four main producers in the region are Crowley Cheese, Grafton Village Cheese, Plymouth Cheese, and Spring Brook Farm. Vermont Cheese Week includes open house activities, cheese making and of course, locally-made cheese samples!

  • Plymouth Cheese: Enjoy samples and cheese making 11am -3:30pm Monday, September 9th through Thursday, September 12th. Visitors are also welcome to drop by for Farmer Fred on Wednesday, September 11th.
  • Grafton Village Cheese Company: Join for a fun-filled cheese extravaganza at their Retail Store on Friday, September 13th from 10am – 6pm!  A live cheese carving demonstration by one of Grafton’s own cheese makers. Cheese-themed photo props to help capture this memorable “cheesy” experience, live music, kids activities, a cheese-themed food truck menu – think a selection of gooey grilled cheese sandwiches, creamy mac and cheese, fried cheese sticks and more!
  • Crowley Cheese: Visit the oldest continuously-operating cheese factory in the United States! Crowley Cheese began in the Crowley’s farm kitchen in 1824. The Crowley Cheese Factory, built next to the farm by Winfield Crowley in 1882 is now A National Historic Place. Visit factory to see how cheese used to be made, entirely with hand tools and traditional methods. Crowley Cheese’s Factory shop, is open seven days a week until 4:00pm daily.
